Great program for dual monitors

Post by Earle on Sun Feb 08, 2009 2:06 pm

The bane of dual monitors is not being able to independently have different images. I found the following program, which allows you to set an image for each desktop as you like. It's free, and quite awesome.

Enjoy

I use to have dual monitors. I took the 2nd down because I got an HD DVR box and it was an HD T.V. being used as a screen, so now when I get my new screen, when ever that may be, the one i use now will be the 2nd and I shall use this beast of a program

Alright john, I am going to assume you have Vista. Right click on the desktop screen. Go to Properties. After that at the bottom of the list is Display settings, click that and then click on the number 2 or what ever port you have the 2nd monitor plugged into (some towers have more than 2 ports). After that, click extend the desktop onto this monitor and there you go, dual monitors. I don't suggest playing a game that takes a lot of requirements if you only have one graphics card because the 2nd monitor eats through its memory and you will be playing on REALLY crappy graphic settings. (I learned this the hard way, that is partly why I do not have 2 anymore)

unless you have an 8800 GTS with 640mb memory...in that case all runs just swell! Twisted Evil

Doug is correct. You can also go through your video card drivers too. Do you have NVIDIA? Their own setup program has a dual mode you can select, and it optimizes everything. However, you will still need to take and use the program I put on there to have different wallpapers for each screen.

Running duals doesn't take up all that much crunch power. What card do you have? Also, when you play a game, and you have dual monitors engaged, the games will automatically play on your primary. Unless you choose to have both your monitors act as one giant one, which I don't recommend, you shouldn't have any problems.
